"I grew up to be a mom"

I was driving home from getting the van's oil changed this morning with all 4 kids in tow.  Violet was talking in the car and said, "When I grow up I want to be a ballerina, a doctor, and a gymnastics girl.  What did YOU grow up to be mom?" I said, "A mom!" and she said, "You didn't grow up to be ANYTHING!?"

One day you will learn sweet girl!

I spared her many details of my life before I was a mom. :)

  3. Dear Maria,
We all need to make an effort, sadly, to show and tell that the value and work of motherhood is
an all encompassing "career" ordained by God...of the highest calling...and that being a Husband and Father is like having God's two jobs rolled up in One. The world, deceived by Satan, has purposely disregarded a women's place in the home... nurturing, teaching, being the servant of all yet blessed...there are many examples in scripture.
It was an innocent comment, but shows the influence of culture. Few working women would be able to maintain the schedule of a mom...they have no idea how much faith and commitment it takes...and they will have no reward in heaven for their worldly success.
Anyway, hang in there...time is a good teacher too. And yes, you have an amazing number of accomplishments too...but what you are doing now will last for eternity!!

    Love,
    "Mom"
